The CD8-AS/CD16-AS consoles use the same architecture as the PPM public address console, with an integrated connection box in the cabinet to link several units in a chain (noting that only the first console is monitored). The recommended maximum distance between units is 100 m.

Just like with the PPM public address console, the CD8-AS/CD16-AS zone buttons can represent a single zone or a group of zones and are easily programmed through the system's GUI using the "drag and drop" function. The Push-To-Talk button can be programmed for PTT or interlocking. System status indicators display the status of all zones, with power, evacuation, and fault indicators also provided.

The CD8-AS/CD16-AS are powered via RS485 through CAT5 (FTP/STP); however, if power is not available via RS485, they can be locally powered with a 24 V DC supply.

The CD8-AS/CD16-AS are EN54-16 certified for use in public address and voice alarm systems.
